So you have completed your Avalanche Training Level 1and have had a full  season using your new skills under your belt, why not continue your learning and complete ATL2? 
The ATL 2 course takes you to a new level of avalanche awareness. It will teach more advanced snowpack analysis tools and tests and with more field time you will be doing more hands-on learning to enable you to be safer backcountry traveller. This comprises 1 classroom day to do over some level 1 material, with some more advanced snow science being offered too.
Days 2-4 will be solely in the field learning advanced techniques to keep you safe and allowing to you make better informed decision while backcountry touring.

Learning outcomes for the ATL 2 course include:
  • Advance trip planning and snowpack assessment.
  • Applying the regional danger rating to your days touring or coming up with a danger rating if no regional forecast is supplied.
  • Advance victim rescue training looking for multiple victims.
  • Adding more snow testing techniques to those learnt in ATL1.

Minimum Field Time Requirement
A minimum of three days in the field is required.
​Single ride lift ticket at Thredbo may be required for field days ($42).

Requirements
Beacon, Shovel, Probe, Snow science kit, snow saw and RB cord.
Advanced Ski / Splitboard touring. Moderate fitness for long days in the field. Crampons may be required if conditions are icy.

Bring  
Alpine touring skis / Splitboard with skins , Adjustable poles, Backpack with Shovel, Probe and of course Avalanche Transceiver , winter clothing for all conditions, warm hat, gloves, goggles, sunnies, sunscreen, water, lunch & snacks .
