Did some digging on an East aspect @ 1761m.
Snowpack depth 140cm. Had medium results on hand shear tests from 1680 to 1800m. These all failed on the layer @ 15cm planar results. Weak temperature gradient in the snowpack. The snowpack is very wet! No CT results from the pit. 3 vert defined ice layer in the snowpack still Layer of concern is the interface at 52cm. |

Did some digging on an East aspect @ 1750m.
Snowpack depth 240cm. Had easy results on hand shear tests from 1680 to 1800m. These all failed on the layer @ 40cm planar results. Weak temperature gradient in the snowpack. but trending strong in the upper 50cm. The snow pack has buried surface hoar at 9 and 42 cm. There is a yellow flag in the snow pack with a fist resistance layer of facets at 61 to 99cm. We were getting Medium CT results at 61 and 99cm, see results below CTM 16 SP @ 99 cm on top of faceted layer. CTM 18 SC @ 99 cm on top of faceted layer. CTM 16 SP @ 61 on buried surface hoar. Layer of concern is the interface at 99cm. |

Did some digging on a South East aspect @ 1800m.
Snowpack depth 150cm. Had easy results on hand shear tests from 1680 to 1800m. These all failed on the layer @ 10cm and 35cm with planar results. Weak temperature gradient in the snowpack. The snow pack has buried surface hoar at 10 and 33 cm We were getting Hard CT results at 91cm, see results below CTH 21 SP @ 91 cm on facets between two ice layers. Layer of concern is the interface at 91cm. |

Did some digging on a South East aspect @ 1753m.
Snowpack depth 140cm. Had Medium results on hand shear tests from 1680 to 1800m. These all failed on the layer @18 and 35cm with planar and results. Strong temperature gradient in the top 20cm of the snowpack. We were getting Medium CT results at 50cm see results below CTM 14 SP @ 51 cm on ice layer. Layer of concern is the interface at 51cm. |

Did some digging on a South East aspect @ 1725m.
Snowpack depth 96cm. Had Medium results on hand shear tests from 1680 to 1800m. These all failed on the layer @30cm with planar and break results. Strong temperature gradient in the top 20cm of the snowpack. The snow pack has a 6cm wind slab layer on the surface. We were getting Medium CT results at 20cm and 57cm see results below CTM 14 SP @ 20 cm on Wind slab / new snow interface. CTM18 SP @ 57 on interface between June 9th event and melt freeze layer Layer of concern is the interface at 20cm. |

Did some digging on a South East aspect @ 1800m.
Snowpack depth 46cm. Had Medium results on hand shear tests from 1680 to 1800m. These all failed on the layer @14cm with planar and break results. The snow pack has a 6cm wind slab layer on the surface. We were getting easy results on the bond between the wind slab and the new snow @6cm See results below CTE 3 SP @ 6 cm on Wind slab / new snow interface. Layer of concern is the interface at 6cm. |

Did some digging on a East - South East aspect @ 1650m.
Snowpack depth 40cm. Had no results on hand shear tests from 1680 to 1800m. The snow pack has a 20cm of Meltfreeze with hardness of knife sitting on another melt freeze with hardness of Pen See pit graph to the right Stability tests CTN No results from hand shear test. Snowpack Isothermic and rock solid. |
