Snow Safety Australia offer FREE refresher training for all past students!

Do you venture out of bounds, off the trails or into the backcountry? An AST 1 course is your place to start.
It is a must for everyone recreating in the backcountry or slackcountry.

All Snow Safety Australia Students become Members of Avalanche Australia.

The AVI 1 is the perfect starting point for those thinking of entering the backcountry or slack country . In this course we will teach you how to behave in a safe manner while understanding if you are in avalanche terrain or not. An AVI 1 is a two-day course with I day of classroom (theory) and one day for field training.
It is highly recommended that you do this course with the people that you regularly tour with.
Remember that an AVI 1 course is a recreational course, it is the beginning of your avalanche education journey.
What you will learn in an AVI 1:

Avalanches, what, how, why, and when.
How to know if you are touring in avalanche terrain.
Understanding how to interpret the local avalanche bulletin.
Using of tools and resources to mitigate your avalanche risk.
Victim rescue training using beacon, shovel and probe.
Snowpack testing and assessment.

The AVI 1 or AST1 course is a prerequisite to take part in further Avalanche Australia training.

All student will recieve membership to Avalanche Australia after completing course.
Cost: $400.00
All classroom sessions are conducted in a professional classroom environment.

Jindabyne, NSW, Australia.
Includes:
Textbook, AASPARC , two full days of instruction (one day indoors & one day in the field)
Bring:
Boots, Alpine touring skis / Splitboard with skins / Snowboard with Snowshoes, Adjustable poles, Backpack with Shovel, Probe and Avalanche Transceiver, winter clothing for all conditions, warm hat, gloves, goggles, sunnies, sunscreen, water, lunch & snacks.
