The Tate Ridge area rating is
Moderate on all slope angles greater than 30 deg
LOW on all slope angles less than 30 deg
We did some test pit on Tate Ridge on the 16/08/15.
East aspect.
25 deg slope.
1850m.
Results below

First column
Very easy result
CT0 SP @ 80cm
Very interesting.
Pop and Drop on a layer of Graupel

Second Column
Medium result
CT14 PC @ 30
Buried layer of Surface Hoar.
Hard result
CT25 RP @80
Layer of Graupel

Extened Column Test.
We got the below results
ECTN15 @ 30 on the buried Surface Hoar.

There are buried layers in the snow pack @ 30, 60 and 80 cm. The 30 and 60 cm layers are Surface Hoar weak layers and the 80 cm layer is Graupel.

No results on hand shear test while skinning, we were able to release unsupported cornice features with skier stomps. Pictures to come later today.

Picture
Advise caution on all east slopes with slope angle greater than 30 deg as there a re still persistant layers @ 30, 60 and 80 cm
